Members of the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Girls Soccer Center of Excellence joined together this holiday season to create and distribute blankets for Ruth’s House, a Faribault-based nonprofit organization that serves as a shelter for local women and children in need.
Morgan Friday ’17 learned of the need for blankets, especially for children, while volunteering at home during Thanksgiving break. From there, members of the program across teams and age-levels pitched in to pick out materials, cut and stitch the blankets, and prepare them for delivery to Ruth’s House. The overall goal for the program was to deliver a total of 30 blankets to the shelter.
In addition to giving back this holiday season, the cause also helped members of the program bond with one another throughout the process.
“This kind of activity brings us together as a team, across age groups and competition levels.” Friday said.
