Zoie Reams ’10, graduate of the Vocal Performance Program Center of Excellence, received the Nathan M. Pusey Young Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award from Lawrence University last week, for her “exemplary opera career.”
The award is presented to an alumnus or alumna celebrating their 20th reunion or younger for significant contributions and achievement in their career field. While these awards would typically be given at an alumni reunion event, this year they were presented remotely.
Ms. Reams starred in many school productions while at SSM, including a role as Dorothy in The Wiz. Since graduating from Lawrence University and getting her Master of Music from Louisiana State University, she has performed across the country with Houston Grand Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Glimmerglass Festival, Opera Lousiane, Opera Columbus, Des Moines Metro Opera, and her particularly stunning season debut at Lyric Opera of Chicago as Flora in La Traviata in 2018.
She has also performed widely on the concert stage, with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Staatstheater Cottbus Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Choral Society at Carnegie Hall, and the combine choirs of Auburn University and New Choral Society of Scarsdale, New York.
Ms. Reams visited SSM earlier this year in December, at which time she worked with many of our current Vocal Performance Program students, performed at the annual SSM Holiday Party in Minneapolis, and sang with local Faribault choir, Beau Chant.
